About

The American Canine Sports Medicine Association is an association of veterinarians, physical therapists, trainers and other professionals devoted to addressing the medical and surgical problems encountered by athletic and working canines.

Members of the ACSMA are experts at diagnosing and managing the injuries, diseases, nutrition, rehabilitation and physiologic functions of sporting and working dogs. That expertise addresses nearly all conditions affecting sporting breed dogs.

Our Mission

Our mission is to optimize performance, minimize risk of injury or metabolic damage, and define the best treatments for performance dogs, taking the canine athlete’s special needs into consideration.  In doing so, we hope to improve the dog’s health and longevity.

We also hope to communicate pertinent information to sporting dog owners and handlers and veterinary professionals to continually ensure the well-being of their
